I’ve heard they are soft, and are better than cotton in that they are natural bacteria inhibitors and aren’t processed with pesticides. Are they soft, or are they starchy? Do they require any special cleaning?

Source:FFX Music:Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess(Touhou~Imperishable Night) I remaked this with music sheet and Wavetone. So I think pitch shifting of intro part is better than the first version.
Bamboo sucks. I’m sorry PermaGods. I know that bamboo is like the holy grail of renewable products. It has many uses. You can eat it, you can build stuff out of it, and it grows super fast. But when you don’t want it, it really screws up your back yard. I don’t have a big back yard at all and this bamboo seems like it’ll devour my whole garden in a few days if left unchecked. The problem gets worse because there aren’t any seemingly good answers on the internet on how to deal with bamboo. Some say to just smother it with a sheet mulch but I don’t want to have dirt in this area, I just want normal lawn. Others suggest hammering metal into the ground to block the runners from going any further, but that just seems like a pain and I feel like it still wouldn’t work. I settled on digging up some of the bamboo plants closest to my house, hoping that would stop the runners. I also plucked out all the bamboo plants and sprayed their roots with RoundUp. Hopefully that combo will kill the plant once and for all. I feel a little guilty about using RoundUp, since, you know, Monsanto is the devil and all. But I guess sometimes you have to make a deal with the devil for the greater good.
Every summer the energy bills kill us. All of our windows face west and we don’t get any breeze. We have an old central air, which does its job but isn’t very energy efficient.
I’m thinking about buying a new air conditioner, window or portable. Which do you think would be better? (We live in a one bed room apartment which is about 650sqft) Does installing some kind of reflective films on the windows work? I also heard that bamboo sheets can keep you cool at night in bed. Has anyone tried that?
Here is an Idea for the Sketch-Up and Guggenheim shelter competition. It is a fold up beach shack, where all the wall and floor panels are constructed off site from galvanized steel C and H sections with crushed bamboo sheet cladding. The roof has been designed to collect rainwater from the fixed and moving roof panels. Solar panels on the roof allow for power generation. A loft space accessible from the built in wall ladder allows for 2 people to sleep comfortably. The selected site is a rocky headland just off the surf break at Nai Harn beach, Phuket Island, Thailand. The design responds to the all year mild climate by being completely op-enable catching all the cooling breezes and allowing for uninterrupted views of the magnificent Andaman Sea. www.guggenheim.org
